But even though there still aren’t a bevy of applications written specifically for AEC pros, there is much software for mobile devices that will simplify life in the field and beyond.

As just one example, TSheets turns your mobile phone into a time-tracking device. Users simply log into a web page and record time on specific tasks or jobs. Reporting features let users customize the content of reports, specify a spreadsheet, and then format and export to CSV, PDF or QuickBooks. You can also view the reports online in HTML. Besides tracking standard hours, users can track overtime, paid time off, job time and project time. Finally, if it isn’t convenient to log into the website, SMS text can be used to clock in/out, add notes or switch job codes.
