Since bathroom and kitchen design can be the most complex – and most important – component to many homeowners' construction plans, 20-20 Design has a rich array of capabilities to helps kitchen and bath contractors and remodelers sell, design, accurately cost-out and communicate with clients.
20-20 Design includes a full set of 2-D drawing tools that let designers enhance a floor plan or elevation using lines, running lines, squares, triangles, arcs, rectangles, ellipses or free-drawn shapes. The tool can also convert a 2-D shape into a 3-D shape. From there, the compass-like Place Tool shows a mini-preview of every item selected and where these items could potentially be placed within a room, while the Coordinates Tab helps ensure the exact placement values of items, with accuracy up to 1/16 inches, the vendor said.
Since 20-20 Design links to thousands of electronic catalogs, homebuyers and builders have access to hundreds of thousands of accessories, furnishings and styles. To better manage this data, designers can group catalogs into collapsible and expandable folders and add drag-and-drop lists to customize and display cabinets, accessories and other necessities or wants, the vendor said. Within a plan, an installation list report provides information on item-position measurements, and a one-click editing feature lets users move any selected item, the vendor said.
To help set a room's mood, 20-20 Design offers user-defined textures that can be pulled from any file, such as scans of real wood or any other material, using a simple wizard, the vendor said. In addition, the Art Deco feature lets users change a room's ambience and décor. Lighting effects can also be applied to a plan, 20-20 Technologies said.
This design software includes a File Insert capability that lets designers save time by importing files (such as a kitchen island) into a new design and by inserting an existing .KIT file into a current design for many popular items. Users also can tap the Drawing Layout feature, which includes a user-defined scale for floor plans and elevations, and can include a reviewable item list, rendering and floor plan, with windows and doors in place. Available in a bitmap or JPEG format, buyers or builders can see multiple views across several pages, the vendor said.
Once a design is done, 20-20 Design can provide a cost estimate, using items grouped by the catalog from which they would be ordered, the vendor said. The Cost/Sale Report lets buyers view the list price, cost price and retail price of all a project's products. Profit also is displayed.
