In the engineer-to-order market design and engineering are crucial to the overall success of a project. Engineer’s productivity has been greatly enhanced by the use of 2D and 3D CAD systems. The problem is that in most companies the systems used by engineering and manufacturing are completely separate. This leads to duplicate data and lots of manual effort re-keying data and keeping the information synchronized. Encompix addresses this problem with the Encompix Engineering Integration module. This module integrates 2D and 3D CAD data into Encompix allowing the engineer to prepare a drawing in their CAD system and automatically update the Encompix Engineering Bill of Material.

Items are tagged on the drawing and a parts list is created in the CAD system. It is a simple process to create a bill of material in Encompix directly from the drawing. The engineer has access to existing part information in Encompix avoiding creating a new record for an existing item. The purchase material requirements are automatically created in Encompix.

Encompix’s Engineering Integration reduces the duplication of effort and non-value activities like the re-keying of data from one system to another, allowing engineers to concentrate on design tasks.
