Exact understands that not all your business critical data may be stored in a single place. Your need to achieve enterprise connectivity and data integration is essential to smoothly drive and share data across all organizational and system boundaries. Connectivity is critical to improve your speed to market and keep your business agile.
There are several cost-effective ways to achieve connectivity, data integration and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) between Exact Synergy Enterprise and your existing systems. You choose the method or methods that best meet your business needs. Depending upon your organization’s requirements and capabilities you can choose to accomplish EAI with Exact Synergy Enterprise via Data Integration, the ESE Software Development Kit (SDK), and/or Web Services.
Enterprise Application Integration with Exact Synergy Enterprise
Connectivity via Middleware: One of the primary ways to achieve connectivity is through middleware—a solution that works between two or more applications and acts as a ‘translator’, translating the data format of application “A” into the data format of application “B”. Exact has chosen Pervasive Data Integrator (PDI) as its middleware solution for Application Integration and Connectivity. Pervasive Data Integrator contains pre-defined “adapters” for many popular non-Exact back-office and front-office applications. It provides the possibility to "connect" the non-Exact application adapter to our ESE adapter, which will shuttle data seamlessly between the two applications. Data exchanged from Exact Synergy Enterprise to another application or vice versa will be extracted, loaded and transformed by the Pervasive Data Integrator.
Connectivity via Exact Synergy Enterprise Software Development Kit: If your needs require users to process data directly, our SDK provides the perfect solution to extend the business logic of ESE without the technical requirements of understanding how to validate and interact with data at the database level. The SDK provides the ability to extend ESE capabilities and bridge these capabilities with other Line of Business applications in a controlled manner aligned with ESE’s business logic layer.
Connectivity via XML: In cases where customers wish to achieve their own data exchange results with existing middleware deployments or via custom development, we provide a wide array of pre-defined XML topics and documentation that can be leveraged to import and/or export data. Data exported from ESE will conform to Exact’s XML Schema and data queued for import must be presented in “well-formed” XML according to our XML schema.
Connectivity via Web Services: For interoperable machine-to-machine interchange of data across a network, organizations can choose to leverage our Application Program Interface for web services directly.
