Tekla Structures is Building Information Model (BIM) software that lets users create and manage 3-D structural models and guides users through the entire building process, from concept to fabrication.
Tekla is one product that is offered in a variety of configurations to better meet the needs of specific segments in the construction industry. The product can be used to interface with other applications or as a platform on its own, according to the vendor.
Tekla Structures' Full Detailing configuration allows users to create 3D models of both steel and concrete structures and to generate output data for the fabrication stage of the work cycle
The Construction Management configuration enables users to manage and track project status, as well as to create and change information attached to building objects with customized views. Users can access project history presented either graphically or in text format with problem areas highlighted so they can be immediately addressed, the vendor said.
The Steel Detailing configuration is a standard configuration enhanced with relevant steel detailing functionality. Here users can create 3D models of any steel material and then generate a corresponding fabrication. Along the same lines, the PreCast Concrete Detailing and Reinforced Concrete Detailing configurations have been enhanced with pre-cast and cast-in-place detailing functionality, respectively.
Ideal for professionals in structural engineering and design, Tekla Structures' Engineering configuration enables synchronized engineering; it also offers collaboration with other project participants and stakeholders using the same shared model, the vendor said.
Tekla Structures also offers a variety of different modules that can be added to the main software configuration. These modules include Project Manager, which enables users to manage and track project status; Viewer, which includes full viewing and reporting, and Drafter, which allows users to finalize drawings corresponding to the central 3D model.
