Company Overview
Vela Systems has designed field management software and mobile technologies for use on Tablet PCs. This hosted software is aimed at increasing efficiency and streamlining field administration and back-office processes for firms in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry, the vendor said.
Vela's software suite includes modules concentrating on different field tasks such as field BIM (Building Information Management), materials tracking, field reporting, maintaining punch lists, producing RFIs (Requests for Information), and managing warranties. No internal IT infrastructure is required to use and install Vela's hosting service, the vendor said.
Once information is entered, users can use VelaSync to synchronize and distribute important documents to and from the field and office. Up-to-date information is then managed through features such as VelaTags, which connect project information to specific areas of work, the vendor said. Management is also facilitated through processes such as user-configurable reporting and views, user- and role-based workflow, built-in email integration and Web services or ODBC integration to back-end systems, the vendor said. In addition to these applications, the Vela Systems field management software suite also contains a pre-populated knowledge management library that includes a range of project and program types. Finally, Vela's software integrates with Meridian Prolog and Primavera project management software.
