April 21, 2005, Boise, Idaho - When Iowa State University Extension decided to upgrade the accounting software for their offices in Iowa’s 99 counties, they needed a product that was not just for accountants. Because many of the employees at extension offices are not CPAs, the software had to be easy to learn and use.
The software also needed a great deal of flexibility, including the ability to account for multiple grants with different calendar years, and a centralized function to consolidate data from 100 outlying offices.
Laurie Gustafson, CPA, Director of Budget and Finance for Iowa State University Extension, and a financial team conducted an extensive search for the software, which ended with a demonstration that “proved the superior user-friendliness of Cougar Mountain Fund Accounting.”

Computer Team worked with Gustafson and the financial team to develop an architecture that allows regional offices to input data and meet their unique requirements while allowing central consolidation of information from the divergent extension service offices.
