SAP America Names Steve Bauer Vice President of North America Communications |

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. - June 1, 2004 - SAP America, Inc. (NYSE: SAP) announced today the appointment of Steve Bauer as vice president of North America Communications. In his new position, Bauer is responsible for developing and managing communications programs for SAP America, which enhance the company’s image among customers, employees, industry analysts and the media. His responsibilities will complement and reinforce SAP’s global communications platform, while maximizing the resources of this dynamic and growing region.
Reporting to Anne McCarthy, senior vice president of SAP Global Communications, Bauer will help SAP to further carry out the positive public perception it has today as the world’s leading provider of business software solutions.
“Steve is a great addition to a great communications team,” McCarthy said. “He has a proven track record in corporate communications -- from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. During his career, he has consistently improved the bottom line through development of strategic corporate communications, marketing and public relations initiatives. Steve’s creative marketing and communications experience will bring great energy and strong leadership to the communication efforts of SAP.”
Bauer has 16 years of experience in corporate communications, marketing and public relations. He was recently vice president of corporate communications at Catena Networks, where he created a strong communications infrastructure and built outstanding corporate and product brand identity. During his career, he has successfully managed corporate communications programs for industry leaders such as Cisco Systems, Tellabs, National Semiconductor Corp. and Siemens. In those positions, he created and communicated a rich corporate vision, innovative product branding and consistent messaging through internal and external collaboration. Bauer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications, with a minor in public relations, from Illinois State University. He is a member of IABC and PRSA.
