More Than 850 Solutions, From More Than 500 ISVs, Now Certified on SAP NetWeaver
SAP NetWeaver Partner Program Provides Access to New Market Opportunities for ISVs through its “Industry Value Networks” Process
PALO ALTO, Calif. - September 12, 2005 - SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced a significant increase in the number of independent software vendors (ISVs) that have signed on to become certified Powered by SAP NetWeaver® partners, adding to the vibrant community of partners already in the program. To date, 855 solutions, developed by 522 ISVs, have achieved Powered by SAP NetWeaver or Certified for SAP NetWeaver status. Once certified, ISVs are able to participate in SAP’s Industry Value Networks process, which provides participants with direct access to SAP’s large enterprise customer base. Announced today, the Industry Value Networks process brings together partners, customers, industry experts and SAP industry solution experts to collaborate in addressing customer pain points through the development of enterprise services. Additional opportunities for ISVs are being introduced at SAP’s Enterprise Services Forums, which began with a sold-out event in San Jose, California and will continue with forums in Vienna, Austria on Sept. 20, 2005 and Boston, Massachusetts on Sept. 26, 2005, held the day before SAP® TechEd '05.
Accelerated ISV adoption of SAP’s platform and Enterprise Services Architecture (ESA), SAP’s blueprint for a business-driven approach to services oriented architectures, is the latest evidence of strong recognition of SAP as a platform leader and in SAP’s ecosystem of customers, who have adopted or plan to adopt SAP NetWeaver as a standard platform. The upsurge in ISV interest marks a turning point in the market as SAP’s partner ecosystem reaches maturity and ISVs race to build and deploy solutions on SAP NetWeaver. The SAP NetWeaver platform gives ISVs an environment to create next-generation IT solutions using open standards-based services with ESA and the opportunity to leverage dedicated marketing and promotional benefits that SAP reserves for its partners.
More than 25 Industries Open Up to ISVs SAP’s new Industry Value Networks process will create opportunities for ISVs across more than 25 vertical industries. Featuring communities of customers as co-innovators, partners and SAP’s industry business units, the Industry Value Networks process is designed to identify high-value customer pain points where collective innovation across the ecosystem is integral to solution creation and deployment. Through ESA, these solutions will use enterprise services as the common language to drive business growth for customers and partners. In an effort to provide transparency, SAP is also releasing to participants in the program a series of industry solution maps that clearly identify high-value areas of collaboration as well as current and future focus points for SAP solutions.
SAP NetWeaver as a platform provides partners with the technical capabilities to build and deploy the most comprehensive enterprise solutions and the unique opportunity through ESA and the Industry Value Networks process to align with more than 25 industry concentrations that cater to more than 28,000 enterprise customers worldwide. This process provides ISVs with an unmatched view of the most important enterprise IT trends and customer investments, especially where their solutions can bring new value within or across industry verticals.
“The SAP NetWeaver Partner Program is definitely a great first step for disruptive solutions in the market, especially if customers are looking to minimize their platform risk by selecting certified solutions, thereby allowing them to focus on the innovations and value like SAT’s integrated field force automation solutions,” said Donald J. Frieden, President and CEO, SAT Corporation.
SAP to Host Additional Enterprise Services Forums SAP's Enterprise Services Forums are components of an overarching SAP strategy to recruit ISVs to help build and develop SAP NetWeaver as the platform of choice. The forums will offer continuing insights into SAP’s strategy for helping ISVs develop and license tools and specifications that support Powered by SAP NetWeaver solutions.
SAP will invite partners across many of its industries to create market-making business opportunities, many of which will be exposed during the forums by key SAP executives. Forum attendees will also be offered SAP’s Accelerated Starter Kit, which helps software developers begin their new SAP NetWeaver partnership with a package of integration workshops, development support, certification and marketing and sales benefits.
“We believe that SAP has taken a big step with its partners in exposing opportunities where we can collaborate to realize new shareholder value,” said Peter Martin, vice president performance management, Invensys Process Systems. “Built on our ArchestrA platform and running on the SAP NetWeaver platform, Invensys Wonderware software solutions will bring new capabilities to the dynamic challenge of production and performance management improvement.”
“SAP is continuing its long-standing commitment to platform openness by creating a forum where ISVs can learn about and leverage the power of SAP NetWeaver for growing their business,” said George Paolini, executive vice president, Platform Ecosystem Development, SAP. “For ISVs, the opportunities are wide open. Clearly, there is huge interest in the SAP NetWeaver Partner Program, as witnessed by the success of our first Enterprise Services Forum. By sharing and exchanging process knowledge from more than 25 industries, SAP is giving ISVs a significant edge in understanding customer requirements. Equally important, the strides we are taking now as a community will strengthen companies’ ability to innovate and evolve in the future, with ESA acting as the enabler of this dynamic market growth.”
