Irvine, Calif - September 15, 2004 - Best Software today announced the availability of Vertex Sales Tax RateLocator, a sales tax management subscription service for MAS 90, MAS 200 and MAS 500 customers. Vertex Sales Tax RateLocator provides constant access to the timeliest sales tax rate data available, giving businesses the reliable, current tax information they need to help them ensure tax compliance, delivered in an easy-to-use desktop tool.

Vertex Sales Tax RateLocator covers more than 7,800 jurisdictions in the US and Canada, providing service subscribers with immediate and direct access to the sales tax rates for their business locations via an automated rate search tool. Each month, customers are provided with an update file including a summary of rate and note changes, to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest information.
Vertex Sales Tax RateLocator includes taxability charts, state contact information and special jurisdictional rules, as well as non-standard and special tax rates. With monthly sales tax rate updates sent right to their desktops, businesses using Vertex Sales Tax RateLocator can easily access pertinent tax information by name, drop-down jurisdiction or postal code in the US and Canada, and can easily go back to frequently accessed taxing jurisdictions, using a historical lookup feature. It also maintains historical tax data for 36 months, so that businesses can refer back to previous rates and generate historical or cumulative reports as needed.
